Excellent news!

Heather gave us another update. Emma is going home today!  The infection was viral, and since the virus is under control, she's going home.

Thank God! Everyone's prayers worked beautifully.

Update on Emma

Heather provided an update this morning. Emma and her heart are hanging in there, but Heather and Mark won't know anything conclusively until they see Emma's transplant doctor tomorrow and Emma has a heart catheterization and biopsy.  Please keep your prayers coming.

Pray for Emma

Heather at Especially Heather and her husband Mark had to rush Emma to the hospital yesterday.   She just posted this morning that Emma is in heart failure and just after a great check up only two weeks ago. (If you are unfamiliar with Emma's story, please read it here.)

Please pray whatever is on your heart. Emma needs all the prayers she can get right now.

Subway: home schooled kids need not apply

Michelle Malkin reports that Subway Sandwich Shop is holding a story-writing contest for kids, but they're excluding home schooled kids from participating. It's shocking, really, like Subway thinks kids who are home schooled are second class students.  Home Education Magazine has the story and outlines for us exactly who is acceptable to Subway. And note the typo:

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. Contest is open only to legal residents of the Untied (sic) States who are currently over the age of 18 and have children who attend elementary, private or parochial schools that serve grades PreK-6. No home schools will be accepted.  [emphasis mine]

First, the folks at Subway need to learn how to spell United States for crying out loud. Second, this decision is going to come back and bite Subway in rear end because, obviously, their marketing gurus haven't heard about the power of mommy bloggers, many of whom home school their children! Does Subway really want to be on the receiving end of mommy bloggers' wrath the way Johnson & Johnson was? Brilliant, Subway. Just brilliant.

Giveaways galore

In celebration of Mother's Day, Notes from My Nest is having a Mother's Day giveaway extravaganza. Skimbaco's  Lady Bug Shoes are there, and they're adorable. If you have a little girl, I guarantee you that if she saw these little shoes (which Suri Cruise owns, by the way) she' d love them instantly. I entered for that one. Blissfully Domestic Designs

Mrs. Fussypants' Cafepress store Blissfully Domestic Designs  is now up and running and I am here to tell you that you must check it out. There are so many cute designs to choose from that I'm having a hard time deciding.  I ordered a Mommy Blogger T shirt and a Stinker T shirt for Littlest One, but now I may have to add a couple other designs. I really like the kids' Blog Fodder and Blog Star T shirts.  And there are so many cute butterfly, bee, frog, and other designs.   There may be only one solution: order a bunch and give them out as presents for birthdays, Christmas, etc.

Update: Seriously, folks, you have to take a look at Fussy's designs. They are just so fricking adorable.   I'm recommending my sister-in-law Karin buy the t-shirt with the little yellow chick that says "Hi. I'm new here" for her newest little girl from China.
