WSJ's Pro UAE Port Deal Editorial

Michelle Malkin has a comprehensive post which dissects the Wall Street Journal's editorial which argues in favor of the UAE port transaction. She makes many good points. It's worth the read.

It startles me that President Bush and Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld only learned about the the approval of this transaction just recently when it was approved by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the US back in November of 2005. Understandably, the president and Secretary Rumsfeld can not possibly be involved in every government decision. This one, however, has such an impact on national security that I'm surprised neither of them knew about it until this past weekend.

Part of the problem is that the Bush Administration and CFIUS see the ports deal as simply another business decision that doesn't affect anything significant while those of us who are are opposed to it see it as a national security issue that affects everything.
